We all have that special story of how we met the love of our life, mine is one of those that everyone tells me, ” it was meant to be” and I think so too.
I’ve been into fashion since I remember but living in Guadalajara Mx in my 20’s, it was not an option as a career, on the other hand, Communications and Marketing where on the rise, I leaned towards these 2 options thinking the I could always add some fashion experience to my life at any moment at any age.
after graduating and working in radio and tv, I never stopped looking for opportunities in the garment industry, sending résumés to local labels and transnational companies that had facilities nearby. Finally that day had come, I received a call from Exi-Moda, an organization that promotes brands, manufacturers, models, designers, through fashion exhibitions and shows, think Las Vegas Magic but a much smaller scale of course, same concept though. I was so excited because the pay was good and close to my house, I was going to coordinate the booths for all exhibitors, do you realize the world of opportunities coming my way?!!
wait, not to fast, in the same week I received another call, it was from a company that was located in a small town, 1 hr or so from home, the pay was good but the schedule was not the best, meaning that I was going to end any social life from Monday to Saturday! WHAT TO DO? My interview took place in one of their offices in Guadalajara, but my second and final interview should be done at the actual work place, so here I go, every mile that I drove was doubtful, I wanted to turn around but some how I kept going, there were strange roads and the feeling of someone attacking me was present every second, literally my heart was pounding and racing above normal.
When I finally got there, everything started to make sense, that plant was huge and beautiful, with mirrored glass all over! once a cleared security they escorted me to the lobby where I met the mascot, a cappuccin monkey! from there they took me to the meeting room and then to the CEO office, here is where I meet the love of my life for the first time, he was on a call and the five of us where waiting for him to hang up. during that time, I couldn’t believe he was in charge, I thought that he was the son of the director maybe?? I mean he was too young (32) to be boss of all this ! Shortly after he came to the table, introduced himself quickly, asked me if I like fashion but also construction and if I could travel. I said yes to everything of course, one minute later I was driving home in floating mode, he totally stroke me with his practical and sharp mind, a successful guy in the apparel industry who not only was directing operations and mass producing fashion but also had sweetest eyes!
